What you'll make
A snap-together curved photo frame — front bow, back panel, two side strips, and optional stand — all pre-kerf-compensated and ready to cut flat.
Step 1 — Set the photo opening size
Enter the photo opening width and height. Add 2–3 mm on each side for the rebate that holds the photo in place.
Step 2 — Set curve radius
Enter the front bow radius. A 100–150 mm radius gives an elegant shelf-display sweep. Smaller radii create a more dramatic curve.
Step 3 — Set material thickness
Enter your exact material thickness. The slot dimensions are derived from this value — accuracy matters for a press-fit assembly.
Step 4 — Configure assembly slots
Choose the number of assembly slots per side. More slots = stronger assembly. The slots are kerf-offset so parts press-fit without glue.
Step 5 — Preview all parts
Review the flat layout: front frame, back panel, side strips, and stand. All parts are shown at true scale.
Step 6 — Export and assemble
Export as SVG. Cut all parts. Bend the front frame gently along the grain. Slot together — no glue needed for the main joints.
Pro tips
Tip 1: Cut the curved pieces along the wood grain — cutting across the grain causes cracking on tight bends.
Tip 2: 3 mm basswood bends more cleanly than birch for small curve radii.
