What you'll make
A fully symmetrical mandala SVG — with precise control over every geometric element — ready for laser cutting or engraving.
Step 1 — Choose symmetry (segments)
Set the number of repeated segments. 8-fold gives a classic mandala; 12-fold and 16-fold produce denser, more intricate designs.
Step 2 — Set outer diameter
Enter the outer diameter in mm. For coasters use 90–100 mm; for wall panels 200–400 mm is common. The design scales perfectly at any size.
Step 3 — Add and configure rings
Each ring adds a concentric band of pattern. Set the inner and outer radius of each ring, then choose the pattern type (dots, arcs, geometric, lattice).
Step 4 — Adjust line weight
Set the stroke width for engraving or the cut gap width for through-cut designs. Thinner strokes produce more delicate results but require a precise laser focus.
Step 5 — Preview in real time
The preview updates live as you change parameters. Zoom in to check that fine details won't be too fragile for your material and laser settings.
Step 6 — Export and cut
Export as SVG. In LightBurn, assign engraving paths to an engraving layer and through-cut outlines to a cut layer.
Pro tips
Tip 1: For 3 mm plywood, avoid gaps narrower than 0.8 mm — they tend to break when the sheet is removed from the bed.
Tip 2: Try engraving the inner rings and cutting the outer border for a beautiful mixed-technique panel effect.
