What you'll make
A full-sheet nested layout of ornament shapes — optimised for material yield — ready to cut in a single laser job.
Step 1 — Choose ornament shape
Select from built-in shapes: circle, teardrop, star, snowflake, heart, hexagon, or upload a custom SVG outline.
Step 2 — Set ornament dimensions
Enter width and height in mm. For a typical Christmas ornament, 80 × 80 mm is a good starting size for 3 mm birch plywood.
Step 3 — Set quantity
Enter how many ornaments you need. The planner calculates how many sheets are required and shows material cost per ornament based on your sheet price.
Step 4 — Set sheet size and gap
Enter your sheet dimensions (e.g. 600 × 400 mm). Set the gap between ornaments — 1.5 mm is the minimum safe gap for 3 mm material.
Step 5 — Add engraving or hanging hole
Optionally add a 3 mm hanging hole at the top and/or a name engraving area. These are included in the exported layout file.
Step 6 — Export the full layout
Export as SVG — one file per sheet. Import into LightBurn, set the cut layer, and run the job.
Pro tips
Tip 1: Plan your seasonal runs in October — material prices rise in November.
Tip 2: 3 mm birch with a light oil finish gives Christmas ornaments a premium feel.
