What you'll make
A round coaster design with decorative border, optional text, and custom engraving area — exported as a cut-and-engrave SVG.
Step 1 — Set coaster diameter
Enter the outer diameter in mm. Standard coasters are 90–100 mm. The tool generates a circle of exactly that diameter as the cut boundary.
Step 2 — Choose a design template
Select a base template: blank, mandala ring, geometric, or border pattern. Templates are starting points — all elements are customisable.
Step 3 — Add text or monogram
Enable the text layer and type your text. Choose font, size, and arc style (straight or curved around the coaster edge).
Step 4 — Set inner design elements
Add an icon, monogram, or geometric pattern to the centre. Use the provided design library or upload your own SVG element.
Step 5 — Preview both engrave and cut layers
Toggle between the engraving preview and the cut preview. Confirm no engraved elements touch the cut edge.
Step 6 — Export and cut
Export as SVG with separate layers for engrave and cut. In LightBurn, set engrave layers first, then the cut layer last.
Pro tips
Tip 1: Always engrave before cutting — if you cut first, the coaster moves and the engraving misaligns.
Tip 2: Bamboo coasters are extremely popular — they engrave beautifully and are food-safe.
